Total and regional body fat was assessed by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), and visceral (VAT), subcutaneous (SAT) and total abdominal adipose tissue (TAT) by single-slice abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan at the level of the fourth lumbar vertebra.
